The History of Fowey Regatta
The Fowey regatta has been in existence since 1819 following behind the regattas held at Lostwithiel. Regattas have been held in the estuary at all the towns and villages and included Lostwithiel, Lerryn, Golant, Bodinnick and Polruan. Fowey has had a number of regattas including Passage regatta, The GWR and stevedores regattas .All were a good excuse to enjoy the fun of events on the water together with enjoyment on land.This is the story of Fowey's own regatta and how it has developed over the years from a one day to a whole week of events.
